DEB Double-Entry Bookkeeping

Double-entry bookkeeping for growing businesses.

DEB stands for double-entry bookkeeping done right: every transaction recorded on both sides, reconciled every month, and explained in plain language.

How it works

Every dollar has two sides.

In double-entry bookkeeping, each transaction hits at least two accounts. One is debited and one is credited, and the totals always match.

Paying $1,200 rent: Rent expense goes up by $1,200 (debit) and Cash goes down by $1,200 (credit).

Invoicing a client $2,000: Accounts receivable goes up by $2,000 (debit) and Revenue goes up by $2,000 (credit).

Assets = Liabilities + Equity. If the books do not balance, something is wrong, and we find it.
Why it matters

What double-entry gives your business.

Errors show up

Because both sides must match, mistakes and missing entries are easier to catch before they reach a report or a tax return.

Questions

Double-entry bookkeeping FAQ

What is double-entry bookkeeping?

Double-entry bookkeeping records every transaction in at least two accounts, as a debit in one and a credit in another. Because each entry has an equal and opposite entry, your books stay in balance and mistakes are easier to find.

Does my small business need double-entry bookkeeping?

Most small businesses that want reliable profit and loss reports, a balance sheet, loan-ready financials and clean tax records benefit from double-entry books. Simple cash tracking can miss what you owe and what you are owed.

Is QuickBooks Online double-entry?

Yes. QuickBooks Online records every transaction using double-entry accounting behind the scenes. The result still depends on how the transactions are categorized and reconciled, which is the work we do each month.

What is the difference between single-entry and double-entry bookkeeping?

Single-entry records each transaction once, like a checkbook. Double-entry records both sides of each transaction, so you can see assets, liabilities, income and expenses together and check that the books balance.

How much does double-entry bookkeeping cost with DEB?

Plans start at $250 a month for up to 50 transactions and $550 a month for more than 50. Hourly help is $40 an hour. Cleanup and QuickBooks setup are quoted after we look at your books.

Do you work with a CPA for taxes?

We keep your books tax-ready all year and work with a licensed CPA partner for tax filing and advice. We do not prepare tax returns ourselves.
